Theresa Crawford Tate (Theresa) is the managing partner of the legal firm of Crawford & Bangs. Her areas of practice include construction law, contracts, corporate and business law. Crawford & Bangs is a boutique construction law firm that specializes in representing entities involved in the construction industry at all levels. The firm was founded in 1979 by Ms. Tate’s father, William Crawford.
Ms. Tate graduated with honors from both the California State University at Fullerton and Loyola Law School, Los Angeles (Order of the Coif). Ms. Tate is admitted to practice before all the state courts of California, the U.S. District Courts for the Central, Southern, and Eastern Districts, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit. She is a member of the State Bar of California and Los Angeles County Bar Association.
Ms. Tate is very involved with several construction related trade associations. She is the Past Chair of the Executive Committee of the Real Property Section of the Los Angeles County Bar (LACBA), and is a former co-chair of the Construction Subsection. Ms. Tate was a member of the Board of Directors for the Building Industry Association (BIA) Los Angeles Ventura Chapter, and has served on the Programs Committee for the BIA Baldy View Chapter. She is a member of the California Plumbing and Mechanical Contractors Association (CPMCA) and has served as the President for the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) of Orange County.
Further, Ms. Tate is a frequent author and speaker on construction related topics. Her articles are posted on the Crawford & Bangs website at www.BuildersLaw.com, as well as being published by many trade publications such as F. W. Dodge-McGraw-Hill’s Construction Link, American Subcontractor Association (ASA) California Newsletter, SMACNA The Industry Reporter, Builder and Developer Magazine and BICA CreditLine Quarterly. Ms. Tate has been invited to speak to the members of numerous construction trade associations (BIA, SMACNA, ASA, BICA, CPMCA, CFMA, PDCA and LACBA) on various topics.
Ms. Tate is a past president for the City of Industry Lions Club, and a past president of the West Covina Chamber of Commerce. Throughout her career, she has served on the board of directors for several charitable organizations.
Ms. Tate resides in Mission Viejo with her husband, Alan, a retired Deputy District Attorney for the County of Riverside, and has two adult sons.
