Theresa Crawford Tate

Theresa Crawford Tate is a partner in the firm of Crawford & Bangs.  Her areas of practice include construction litigation, corporate and business law.  Crawford & Bangs is a small firm that specializes in construction law.

Ms. Tate graduated with honors from both the California State University at Fullerton and Loyola Law School.  Ms. Tate is admitted to practice before all the state courts of California and the U.S. District Court for the Central District.  She is a member of the State Bar of California and Los Angeles County Bar Association.

Currently, Ms. Tate serves as an executive committee member of the Real Property Section of the Los Angeles County Bar (LACBA), and is a former co-chair of the Construction Subsection.  Ms. Tate is a member of the Board of Directors for the Building Industry Association (BIA) Los Angeles Ventura Chapter, and serves on the Programs Committee for the BIA Baldy View Chapter.  She is a member of the Orange Empire Sheet Metal & Air Conditioning Contractor’s National Association (SMACNA) and the Construction Financial Management Association (CFMA) of Orange County.  

Further, Ms. Tate is a frequent author and speaker on construction related topics.  Her articles are posted on the Crawford & Bangs website at www.BuildersLaw.com, as well as being published by many trade publications such as F. W. Dodge-McGraw-Hill’s Construction Link, American Subcontractor Association (ASA) California Newsletter, SMACNA The Industry Reporter, Builder and Developer Magazine and BICA CreditLine Quarterly.  Ms. Tate has been invited to speak to the members of numerous construction trade associations (BIA, SMACNA, ASA, BICA, PDCA and LACBA) on various topics, including:  Mechanic’s Lien Basics; Advanced Mechanic’s Liens, Stop Notices and Bonds;  Understanding Construction Subcontracts; Collecting Your Money in Hard Times; Subcontractor Negotiation Strategies; Contracting for Green Building; How to Be an SB800 Survivor; New Contractor License Laws in 2005; and Bonds ~ A Discussion of Surety.  

Ms. Tate is a past president for the City of Industry Lions Club, and a past president of the West Covina Chamber of Commerce.  Throughout her career, she has served on the board of directors for several charitable related organizations.

Ms. Tate resides in Brea with her husband, Alan, a Deputy District Attorney for the County of Riverside, and their two sons.
